SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is used to validate if an email message was sent by an authorized server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain name makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are permitted to send e-mails from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through tests whether it comes from an official server. If it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet if it does not come from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an email address then make it look as if you are distributing spam. This approach is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you host your domain names in a cloud hosting account with us and we manage the email addresses for them, you are able to activate SPF protection for any of them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a section of its own where you are able to see which domain names are already protected. For the ones that aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection option and configure numerous things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that email messages can be sent only when your domain names have our MX records. The aforementioned solution is the most secure one, but you can use it when we handle the e-mail addresses for your domains and do not use some other email service provider. The new records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message using your addresses.
