A subdomain is a website url, that's under a main, or a root domain. An example is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain address, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Each subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. apart from employing the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be entirely independent and also hosted by a separate service provider. Using a subdomain can be very beneficial if you want to have different web sites that are associated in some way. For example, you could have a web-based store under the main domain plus a forum under a subdomain in order to supply means for your clients to ask questions and share thoughts concerning your products. The benefit of using a subdomain instead of a subfolder is that the web sites will be separated, so you're able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting plans will permit you to set up many subdomains for every domain address hosted in your account without any hassle. Provided that the main domain is added, it takes 2 mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and select what folder it will open (if different from the default one), set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a limit for the total number of subdomains you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.
